The Nashville Youth Jazz Ensemble is a non-profit educational and performing jazz big band for students grades 8-12 in the Middle Tennessee Area. The purpose of our organization is to support jazz education in our community while providing our student members with a high-quality opportunity to perform America’s truly original art form. An additional goal of “NYJE” is to foster the appreciation of jazz music in the greater Nashville community. 

Our organization sponsors two JazzFests during the year: NYJE JazzFest Central in Nashville and NYJE JazzFest North in Hendersonville. Both events feature several area school jazz bands, along with the Nashville Youth Jazz Ensemble student groups. The JazzFests are offered free and open to the community and draw several thousand attendess from across Middle Tennessee.
